We encourage new scouts to attend our open house events and get to know the pack! At the beginning of every school, Pack 122 hosts a recruitment night / Open House at New Monmouth Elementary School in the field behind the school. We have outdoor activities for boys and girls of all ages from K-5.
There is no deadline to join scouts. Scouts are accepted into Pack 122 on a rolling basis, although, signing up earlier in the year is the best way to make the most of the scouting experience for your child--but it's never too late to join! If you sign up later in the year and you've already missed some of the den meetings, don't worry! You can still complete the den-specific "adventures" with your child independently and still earn all of the belt loops and accomplishments necessary for rank advancement!
All scouts are encouraged to participate in fundraisers throughout the year to help offset the cost of their registration fees and help fund pack activities. The majority of the registration fee is paid to the national and regional scouting organizations that oversee scouts in our area. The schedule of fees is as follows:
National and Regional Fees
BSA National Registration Fee: $68
BSA National Insurance Fee: $21
Boys Life Magazine: $12
Monmouth Council Fee: $52
Pack 122 Fees
Pack Awards / Pinewood Derby Car / Raingutter Regatta Boat: $58
Pack Activity Fees (helps cover costs for Pack outings/crafts/snacks): $20
Pack Incidentals (including Adult Leader registration): $10
Total Yearly Registration Fee: $225
Throughout the year, Pack 122 engages in various fundraising activities in conjunction with Scouts BSA and Monmouth Council. These fundraisers provide an opportunity for scouts in the pack to help pay for part of the cost of their registration fees and to earn money for other scout-related activities.
Camp Cards
The Monmouth Council BSA organization provides coupon booklets called "Camp Cards" that scouts can sell to raise funds for the pack. A portion of the funds that scouts raise is deposited into their Scout Account and can be used to offset fees or other expenses for Scout-related activities.
Popcorn Fundraiser
Our Pack also sells CampMaster popcorn throughout the Fall to raise money for the Scouting program. A portion of the popcorn sales that a Scout makes is credited to their individual Scout Account. This can money can be used to offset fees or other expenses for Scout-related activities. Please contact Clare Russo or Jen Ward with any questions about popcorn sales.
